About Uplift International
Improving health and human rights has been the goal of Uplift International for over 25 years
Uplift International works for justice – in the health space – for all individuals. Our activities are focused on:
- Ensuring women have information about and access to birth control and abortion
- Creating interdisciplinary solutions to healthcare access challenges in resource poor settings
- Training developing country medical and legal professionals in standards of practice for medicine and medical research
Uplift International is located in Seattle, Washington, a hub for global health and social justice innovation, advocacy and networking.
Current Programs
Uplift International’s programs improve health access for all populations and protect the most vulnerable.
- Advocate for the human right to family planning in the U.S. and around the world
Uplift International advocates for women’s and girls’ reproductive health. We participate in and lead educational forums – hosting conferences, participating in panels and disseminating information about the importance of access to quality, affordable and comprehensive reproductive health services. Our signature event, the Human Right to Family Planning conference, convenes experts across disciplines to discuss how to protect women’s and girls’ access to birth control and abortion.
- Train professionals in ethical practices of medicine, research and public health policy
Uplift International’s experts train professionals and provide assistance to developing country institutions, like universities and government agencies, in how to protect healthcare access for all, especially vulnerable populations. We promote international standards of ethics to provide quality care and conduct health research without discrimination.
- Partner with local organizations for the most impact and the most sustainability
Uplift International works with other NGOs and across professional disciplines—including medicine, public health and law—to educate and advocate for improved health and rights for all.
