We are mourning the passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She was a monumental figure in law and, more recently, became a pop-culture celebrity star outside the court. She will always be remembered as the pioneer jurist who fought for women’s rights and gender equality as an essential part of the human rights agenda and the U.S. Constitution. What a remarkable woman, jurist and exceptional role model. She showed us that it takes a fight for change to happen.

RBG’s lived experience motivated her, thankfully, to advance civil and human rights for all. Her life as a woman allowed her to understand the uphill plight of women in America. It is said that her Jewish heritage was the reason she understood and fought for equal rights of minorities.

Today, more than ever, we must follow the lead set forth by RBG and continue the fight for what is right. We must fight against discrimination in all its forms and advocate for equal rights. That includes equal rights to comprehensive and essential reproductive health care. Every individual has a right to affordable and accessible contraception and abortion services.

May RBG’s memory be a blessing and an inspiration. To honor her, we must commit to acting for change so our world can be a more equal and just place for everyone.
